hello, loves :) and so ever since American Idol Finale, my life has just been boring. lol

i just came from a two day one night trip @ Moalboal with my relatives. good times roll. beach and bonding. yuhuh. it's nice to get away from stuff. no computer, no cellphone - well not really. it's just that the signal finding game gets too infuriating for me so i don't bother participating.

and in that trip, i have fully realized that subconsciously, there was a part in me that really really wanted David Archuleta to win. i don't knooow, i just get to attached to some things and i don't like it if i get the bum deal. but i'm over it now. i know Cook deserved it more. but whatever, whatever.

i've been watching the Idol's interviews via web. but it's just not enough. i want to see more of them on stage, singing their lungs out. rarr. and i get bummed more and more nowadays on the removal of ETC from the Sky Cable channels. i hate it.

and i am now super envious of my relatives living in NJ. they get to see the Idols on their summer tour this August. rarrrrr.

and i can't believe that in two weeks time, it's back to hell hole (hell hole - school). i still don't wanna. i want more summer.

and, i don't know if you have noticed, but sometimes my titles to my posts don't make sense. lol, they actually do. they are actually excerpts from the random thoughts i am having on the moment of my typing. like this one, "..i've gone identity mad" is from the lyrics of "Grace Kelly" - the song Josiah Leming sang in Hollywood Week of American Idol which i was just looking up at YouTube moments before i decided to blog. hahaha. a lot of inside stuff going on, right? you go figure what the rest of them mean. :D

and, i am totally hyped that i have finished my David Archuleta album in my multiply account. i have successfully documented Archie's journey in AI. from backstage pictures to performance night pictures to elimination night pictures to homecoming pictures to red carpet pictures to finale night pictures. :D check it out here.

so yeaa, that's all i could manage to blabber right now.

random thoughts on the Idol Finale:

-i am still hurt by the fact that they didn't invite Danny Noriega.
-it was funny how many people woke up early just to see American Idol.
-that guru guy was hilarious. and i laughed so darn hard when Archie caught the dripping shaving cream with his hand. lol.
-i loved Archie and Cook's song duet. it was amazing

-where was the Mariah-Cook duet?
-JONAS BROTHERS. wohooo. i was kinda disappointed there was not any blooper on that one. and i was waiting for Kevin's SOS dance. lol.
- 97.5 MILLION VOTES. wow.
- what was Jordin wearing? TOBLERONE was the only thing that popped to my mind. this kind of toblerone:

-man, i loved Apologize - Archie version
-REYNALDO. oh god, Reynaldo. hahahaha.
-
I WILL MISS AMERICAN IDOL 7 - totally. they had good talents and haven't you noticed? they had the best looking male contestants ever. hahaha. Archie, Cook, Castro, Johns - yuhuh
-7 months of waiting and 5 months of IDOL pai
d it off. i can't wait for next season. :D
-and, i am now imagining Cook's face on the American Idol backdrop during the auditions.
-and, i am now officially cursed. hahaha. i always always develop a liking to the runner-ups. Aiken, McPhee, Blake, Archie.. so, who's next? hahaha

i still love you David James Archuleta. :)

DAVID VS DAVID FINALE

all this time i have been saying that all i want is to have to two Davids in the Top2 and im waaay good. i love both of them and whoever wins, i'll be happy. but tonight, tonight just.. *sighs*

so the winning songs suck. lol. but i totally agree that Archie's song was a better coronation song than Cook's pick cause Cook's pick was about dreaming big, believing, having faith.. but it's a coronation song, a winning song and it should be about grasping the moment you are in cause you're already there.

I DON'T KNOW LOVES, BUT I TOTALLY SAY ARCHIE WON THE NIGHT. AND I WANT HIM TO WIN. but you know.. in respect to David Cook's past performances, i don't know.. i'm torn. and i can't predict what's going to happen. rarr.

just a lil trivia though,
Kelly Clarkson, Fantasia Barrino, Carrie Underwood, Taylor Hicks, Jordin Sparks
they all had 1866-IDOL-02
the second performer always won with the exception of Season 2 where Clay Aiken had the 2nd spot but lost against Ruben Studdard.
NUMBER 2 IS THE PIMPSPOT. and who was the second performer? yuhuh.

i was really touched watching the clips when Ruben sang Celebrate Me Home. i was nostalgic over those people who left and who didn't make it..

Kyle. Josiah. Drew. Asiah. Alaina. Danny. Ramie. Kristy. Johns. Brooke. Castro. Syesha. and most importantly,
Reynaldo Lapuz (i am your brother guy).

it's so odd how attached i am to watching these people reach their dreams. it's just so wonderful. and you can't help but feel for them. awwww.

so bottomline, I WANT ARCHIE TO WIN. Cook really could've won me over tonight coz i have always been open to Cook winning this whole thing. but tonight, i don't know. it's just something was totally lacking. he didn't give all that he could and i could say that coz i've seen Cook do better. but im still a Cook fan. and an Archie fan.

nevertheless, we'll see what happens tomorrow.
IM PSYCHED FOR TOMORROW'S FINALE.
and i have heard some spoilers for tomorrow. i am totally totally totally psyched.

BOOM SHAKA LACKA!

Top 3 in the house.
my pick of the week - I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing by David Cook

JUDGES' CHOICE:

David Archuleta - "And So It Goes" chosen by Paula
ok, i got the song spoilers and before watching Idol, it's my habit to look up the original versions of these songs on YouTube. first, i really wanted to kill Paula for choosing a song fit for a snoozefest. but, when David sang this, i realized that the song really complemented his vocal range. well folks, it is not easy to carry a tune when it's a vocal solo.. the first part of the song was all like just his voice.. and the melody of the song was just difficult to carry but he was able to do it.. with minimal background and no back up singers. i am really impressed. wow. and if you don't believe that it's that hard, well go ahead try to sing it.

Syesha Mercado - "If I Ain't Got You" chosen by Randy
i thought this was really good for Syesha. but she stuck to the tune and didn't make a statement out of it. boohoo

David Cook - "First Time I Ever Saw Your Face" chosen by Simon
it was a different side of Cook's voice we don't usually see. he carried it. and well, duh, he's Cook.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

CONTESTANTS' CHOICE:

David Archuleta - "With You"
kill me. omg. i could not figure out what came to him that he chose this song? it is so far from the David we know and that really really supercalifragilisticexpelialidociously shocked me. so, even before hearing him, i knew it wouldn't work out. i knew he couldn't keep up with the words since its fast and well, he's gaspy. and the song was simply not flattering to his voice. proved me right. he was running after the words, almost forgetting some, gasping every time he could, add up those hip shaking and the awkwardness. motherofgod, i am pretending this did not happen.

Syesha Mercado - "Fever"
EW. she was forcing sexyness. EW. i was so distracted on her movements i could not remember what and how she sang.

David Cook - "I Dare You To Move"
oh i just realized i knew this song (thanks to Fel) this was from A Walk To Remember. and lyric wise, i would like to applaud Cook cause the song really was a good meaning and fits to what he is going through right now. although it was hard to pull this song cause it had to be shortened. you know the momentum of going from slow to medium to full blast there is in a song? it's hard to pull that off if the song had to be cut and fit to 90 secs. right on, Paula. you're finally talking some sense

----------------------------------------------------------------

PRODUCERS' CHOICE:

David Archuleta - "Longer"
Longer was a perfect fit for David. props to Nigel for that one. it was just.. perfect.

Syesha Mercado - "Hit Me Up"
wth Happy Feet? Nigel really wants to make this girl leave the show. way to go, manipulative bastard. performance wise, she lacked energy and if she really really wanted to stay, she should've gave her all on the last song cause it is what the viewers would remember. it was okey but not memorable enough.

David Cook - "I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing"
oh god, i love this song. and Cook, really really really made it work for him. i loved everything about it. especially the trusty end of the song glory note for Cook. that my fellows, just made him win the night.

----------------------------------------------------------

Additional Notes:
a.
what's up with Mr Cowell and Mr Jackson? their comments were like for the sake of slapping each other's faces. if you wanna do some slapping gents, go somewhere else.
b. Paula was actually talking some senses tonight. kudos to you Ms Abdul
c. why oh why do they have to argue about the song selections that the contestants obviously didn't choose? go tell it to Nigel, geniuses.
d. is it me or does everyone get the feeling that Syesha checked out Kristy Lee Cook's wardrobe?
e. SO WHO'S UP FOR A DAVID VS DAVID FINALE?

SO ANYWAY,

some non idol related stuff.

i just wanna say I LOVE ELLEN DEGENERES. :P
and, the computer sucks. its been slow and keeps on hanging.
and my cellphone's keypads are just stupidly very hard to press. it takes a lot of pressing before something actually appears on the screen. oh good lord, what did i do to deserve all these?

avra kadavra
12:01 PM | Monday, May 12, 2008

right now i am allowing you and some other strangers to penetrate my mind. these are 7 things the most people don't actually know about me.
so yea, i kinda got the idea from those tag-posts on multiply.

7. i can easily be very obsessive about something.
it can be anything. from stars to dark magic to tv shows to people to anything. i'd Google it and go to different sites containing information on the subject of my obsession. and it's obvious what i am obsessing right now. or who, rather. and if you don't have the slightest idea, you prolly don't know me at all so go figure.

6. i easily get bored.
as much as i easily get obsessed on something, i easily get bored on the topic too so i move on to another obsession. my interest span is just a bit longer than the attention span of a rabbit. but that's different when it comes to shows, like American Idol cause every week, there's always something new so i never run out of things to find out and dirt to dig. but as soon as the show's over, time to move on. same with people, like crushes.. their absences bore me so i try find another interesting soul. lol

5. i am a frustrated singer.
that's self explanatory. and oh, add frustrated pianist, too. lol. i am self teaching myself some songs on piano but i don't intend to get proper education on the instrument. and i never never never finish learning the song. i just go with the intro and sometimes, first verse too.

4. i am picky with songs.
i am. not everything on pop music interests me that much. as some of my close would friends know, i do not like Bleeding Love, No Air and some other pop songs right now. as add some Natasha Bedingfield. i hate her, too. no not the songs, some of her songs are actually good (ie Unwritten) but i hate her for some reasons only few know (ha ha ha). i listen to house music and hip hop but i don't put them on my MP4. see, house music and hip hop music are 'short term songs' as i call them cause they don't last long. why? cause these type of music is very dependent on its beat cause that's what they're for, dancing. their lyrics don't have meanings that could capture you every single time so once everyone gets familiar with the beat, it get boring.. time to move on to another new flavor. and there are only very few hiphop and house music with meaningful lyrics (ie I Believe - Yolanda Adams) and that sucks.

unlike slow songs and some rock songs, the songs try to deliver a message to the listener so even if it's not new anymore, i can still stand to listen to these type of songs because of the message that i could somehow relate to or imagine to cause i am a person who gives importance to the lyrics of songs. songs are like stories for me. some rock songs though, are not that meaningful for me cause they talk about sex, suicide, rebellion and all stuff.. and i am most definitely not that type of person. but i have to say, there are people who can relate to these kind of stuff that is why rock music sells cause it doesn't only focus on the beat but the lyrics too. although i have to say, i also get impressed by the beat and the harmony of the instrument of rock songs.

and i like a lot of old school music. 60s 70s 80s 90s.
beatles, anyone?

3. i am very emotional when i watch movies and read books.
especially when it deals with death, i have a weak spot for that. and in almost all movies and books i've read, i've shed some tears. but i genuinely get very very interested in investigation shows, movies and books. i like that certain feeling that intriguing situations bring, it's this tingly feeling in your spine that could really really drive me crazy and the feeling of relief and amazement when puzzles get solved and everything gets right back to place. i like the challenge. that is probably why i get so attached to Detective Conan, CSI, House and Shark.

2. i sometimes question God's existence.
i just do. there are questions that keep popping in my mind that can never be answered and even if i try to shove them off, they always manage to hunt me back. its really weird. and honestly, if you ask me, if i am at the same time when Jesus came on earth, would i be one of the believers or one of the people who insisted on persecuting him, i would say, i would not believe Jesus at that time. but i would not insist on persecuting him because i just don't like the thought of killing someone. yes, my thoughts are contradicting. but i really would not believe in Jesus at that time. but anyway, i guess those events happened to give enough evidence for the people of the future (us) to have faith. but not enough to prove and answer questions. it's so full of mystery and we can only leave it that way.

1. i am actually a deeper person than what people give me credit for.
yea. i analyze stuff in my mind but that stays there. i have a lot of questions to some things that people tell me, i have a lot of opinions of a lot of things but that usually just stays there in my mind. i am not a person who speaks out much cause i don't like going against narrow minded people cause no matter what i say they would always stick to what they believe in so there is no point in telling them off. and sometimes, i just let things be. i won't care anymore on what they think as long as i know what i think.

and i sometimes analyze the way people act. it's really interesting. i try to find out why they act that way and their motives. people's actions intrigue me. and that's why i limit my self when i am around people cause i analyze on how they react. specially strangers. it's a good thing and a bad thing. but when i am with the people i am comfortable with, i let it all out cause i know these people and i wouldn't care on what they would think cause no matter what, i know they'll accept me.

love you guys. :)
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAND, NEW LAYOUT. I LIKE IT JUST LIKE THIS - SIMPLE.

HAHAHAHA :D

i just knew Rock N Roll Night was going to be fun. haha
my pick of the week - Stand By Me by David Archuleta

now the review part. ha ha.

SIDE A

David Cook - "Hungry Like the Wolf"
sorry Cook fans, but i didn't like this one much. well it was okey while listening to it but in retrospect, i'd say it's forgettable coz i even forgot he sang this song until the recap. so yeaaa.

Syesha Mercado - "Proud Mary"
the song reminds me of Danny N, yea. this was his audition piece, you know? aww. anyway, yea.. it's hard to do this song since this song already had like a gazillion covers and it's hard to make it unique and in your own knowing that this song had already been transposed, changed or whatever a lot of times. but it was good for a concert song.. you know, Syesha's version like, brought the audiences' dancing bones shakin.

Jason Castro - "I Shot The Sheriff"
oh i love this song. hahaha. and oh god Jason, we saw him do some movements while performing alone on stage. haha. i honestly didn't think it was that terrible. i mean you know, knowing Jason, he's someone who'd just do anything to enjoy. the judges was a bit harsh, in my opinion.

David Archulea - "Stand By Me"
right now, i wanna be David's dog. lucky dog, David sings to him this song. haha. this song, reminds me a lot of Josiah Lemming. i loooooove Josiah! mucho. haha. anyway, he sang it really nice and you know, you can't help but smile while watching him sing it. AAAND i was in a slight shock when a Sean Kingston lyric got lost in his song. hahahaha. but it was cool, i was just like "wooah, what was that?" hahaha. i loooved it i looved it.

SIDE B

David Cook - "Baba O'Riley"
i loooove this song. i was kinda disappointed how they murdered the intro. i love the The Who's intro on this song.. hahaha. it is my favorite pary especially when the drum comes in. i don't care if the intro takes like, 1 min of the song, i just love it. anywaaay. haha. back to Cook, i love his version.. at first i was like "too sloow, man" but then it kinda got better and better. in totality, i like his version. but i love the original version more (yes, because of the intro. lol) hopefully he makes a studio on this song and hopefully the intro doesn't get murdered. lol

Syesha Mercado - "Change is Gonna Come"
i remember telling myself that i liked her vocals on this song but right now, i really couldn't remember how the song sounded. forgettable but pretty good.

Jason Castro - "Mr Tambourine Man"
the judges were harsh really. cause it was really okey.. the performance in totality even if he was hum humming some parts of the song. but what really gets me is Jason's passiveness. oh god, i am just so entertained by Jason :P

David Archuleta - "Love Me Tender"
i just knew he'd do Presley when i learned the song theme for tonight. hahaha. i just did. anyway, stupid song choice. i mean, what the hell David, why would i ever let you go? lol. kidding aside, outstanding vocals and the words, were just delivered so passionately that it'd strike you every time. i like it. :)

--------------------------------
additional notes:

a. i totally love Ryan. ha-ha
b. Arch Angel fansign i saw :)
c. Rascall Flatts in the house! :D life is a highway.. i always wanna sing that song everytime i see them :P
d. Simon: what were you thinking? Jason: i was thinking Bob Marley! all hail thee! hahahah
e. it's obvious who deserves to go home this week, although i don't want him to go.. i love Jason. but, im doubting if things turn out the way it should tomorrow. coz, you know.. it's not who's having the worst performance at this stage of the show, it's about who are you gonna support till the end. you get what i mean? :D
f. i was able to cast more or less 90 votes for David A this morning using Gizmo. yeeeiy
g. and yeaaa. they changed outfits on second round. haha

it has been a long time since i've last done this.. anyhoo, i'll be reviewing a book again :)

The Time Traveler's Wife
by Audrey Niffenegger

okey, so i got this book from Powerbooks. i really had no intention of buying a book at that moment but my feet dragged towards Powerbooks and i was there in front of the store so, why not try to check some books?

so, while inside Powerbooks, i kinda wanted to buy a book already since it's summer and aside from TV and PC, it's boring. i was scanning some books of familiar authors, Kinsella, Meyer, Coelho, Albom, Sparks but, nada. i really was about to leave the store when i saw this book on the 'featured books' table. i remember Lucy Torres and Mark Nelson talking about this book on one show on QTV (no, i don't watch that channel but i since Marc Nelson was there as their guest.. gaah, you know i had a thing for this guy before. TARA2 times. lol), i picked it up and read the preview at the back of the book (i do that a lot. :P)

"This is the extraordinary love story of Clare and Henry wh
o met when Clare was six and Henry was thirty-six, and were married when Clare was twenty-two and Henry thirty. Impossible but true, because Henry suffers from a rare condition where his genetic clock periodically resets and he finds himself pulled suddenly into his past or future. In the face of this force they can neither prevent nor control, Henry and Clare's struggle to lead normal lives is both intensely moving and entirely unforgettable."

the book caught my attention cause:
a. just recently that time did i see Lake House (Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves) and you know how Lake House was. present and past (for Bullock) while present and future (Reeves). and i really like fiction-ish stuffs together with romance cause you know its not just like those ordinary romance stories.. you know there's gotta be an adventure or thrill added. so, seeing this book that dealt with time.. it just made me more curious.
b. i find the sense of unpredictability very interesting because unlike those time travel movies, they control where they wanna go until something messes up and they're stuck in that time. this one, he can't control his time travels..

and so. the book made use of Clare's time frame for the succession of events (cause it would be so confusing if the author used Henry's) and it's really really cool cause every once in a while Henry time travels. he reaches the new places naked and goes back naked. there's like a principle behind it that you can't bring something from the future to the present or something from the past to the present cause it would mess up the events that would've happened in a normal setting. like, imagine someone bringing a cellphone back to the 1960's. that's would cause changes of the events in the future.

and i have discovered something very true and very sensible that is often times neglected in movies or books that dealt with time travels.. you know how the things go like, you go back to the past to change something so things would be different in the future, yes? or like how Sandra Bullock sent that letter to Keanu Reeves to avoid his own death, yes? these events suggest that the past, present, and future are like different dimensions that one thing that had already happened could be changed. it's like suggesting that we can change what we've done to run from all the dreadful things that what our original actions may have brought. well in fact, no. "the choices we're working here are a block universe, where past present and future all coexist simultaneously and everything has already happened". this is the part in this fiction book that can somehow be applied to what we have in reality. life is like a record player wherein everything is recorded on the first hand and there is no button allowing us to rewind and record over something that has already been recorded. it's like a driving on a one way road wherein you can't go back the other way to watch something you have missed while passing by cause there is only one direction that you can follow and you can only pass one place once. do you get the analogy? and the only books that i have read that took this principle and gave importance to it are this book and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (if you have read or seen HP3, i can see you nodding right now)

because of this principle, it made me realize a lot of things. one is that we must choose our decisions today wisely for today is our tomorrow's past and what is now can change what the future holds but the future can never change what the past has brought. and that we must never take things and people for granted cause everything can only happen once and these people can just go away from our lives in a blink and by then, there can be no means to bring them back. so cherish the moments that you are with them while it's not yet too late cause we really can never know wht happens next.

the book also teaches a lot about families. and it's just so moving and inspiring. :)
although, this book has 518 pages and the font size is a bit smaller than the ordinary ones so it's really long. but i found myself enjoying reading each page of the book cause it's like reading a diary of someone with such an unusual life.

so all in all, i really liked this book and i really admire Aubrey Niffenegger for her wild imagination. but despite it's wildness, it still can make sense. im giving this book 4.5 stars. :)

i suggest this book to anyone who is up for a good and long read and can easily understand and analyze. and by the way, i just learned this recently.. they are actually making a movie for this book and will show on December 2008. starring Rachel McAdams (The Notebook, Mean Girls).

"..in the past we can only do what we did, and we can only be there if we were there." does that make sense to you? *wink

summer's been a drag for me. but what the heck. i'd prefer it a million times more than getting stucked in school. downside is, you get to miss your friends and the mall that is just so nearby.

so, what i have been doing lately..
♥ i have been trying to learn some stuff on the piano. i don't really intend to pursue this thing, it's just a lil fun thing i get to do and waste my 24 hours on. :)
♥ i am currently reading a 500+ page book with 9/10 as the font size. as you can tell, it's really long but nevertheless, it's a really cool book. i'm almost done with it o hopefully i get to put up a review on that afterwards. i miss doing book reviews.
♥ i am totally dedicated to American Idol. i review performances since the last week and Friday is just download day for me. hmhmm.
♥ i watch TV a whole lot now. House, CSI, Deperate Houswives, Ellen Degeneres Show, Shark
♥ i am online for 5 hours max a day

so there. i am just updating everyone on what i have been up to coz lately, it's all AI-related posts. really, cause AI is the only thing that interests me for the moment. heck, my life doesn't even interest me. SO THERE. CIAO.
