Everyone who knows me is aware of how much an Idol junkie I am. Especially Ai7. I just truly loved the personality of their batch. All so talented people at so different ways. There was just too much of Ai7 to be left forgotten. So whenever they come out here in the Philippines, much more Cebu, we really try to do our best to show our love for them by coming out for their shows. And lately, it has been very convinient that tour producers are now starting to include our very own Cebu in their itenerary. :)
Last week, Jason Castro (American Idol 7, Top 4) did a couple of Ayala mall shows in the Philippines. And happily, they did include Ayala Center Cebu, now. Which is awesome cause you know, us Cebuanos, have always been proud of our Cebu and it's amazing to know that lately, other people are also starting to notice the Cebuano crowd. Anyway, so Feliz Karen and I (Team Awesome, as we dub ourselves) decided to show some love for Castro.
We knew that the event would be held on The Terraces' outdoor stage, (which is again awesome, since of all mall shows he did, it was only in Cebu where he played at an outdoor venue). We didn't have passes for the concert cause we're not that blessed on the financial aspect but we tried our best to make the most out of the experience.
We came earlier cause we didn't have sure seats and we still have yet to plan where to situate ourselves. While Feliz and I were sitting at the stairs directly infront of the stage trying to figure things out, I noticed an entourage of tall, foreign people and there goes, Jason Castro casually walking by behind the stage getting inside the restaurant located also at The Terraces.
And luckily, there was this coffeeshop which was located at the back of the stage where the smoking/outdoor seats had amazing view of the stage. We decided to just stay there and grab some drinks for the sake of not getting them shoo us off. We were there when Jason did the soundcheck. After the soundcheck, we were in awe that he (along with the entourage) entered the mall. We didn't follow them cause we were concerned we won't get those amazing seats back so we reamained in the coffeeshop but word around the grapevine was, he did some shopping inside the mall. Hahahaha. Look at this guy.
So the event started. And Jason was Jason, being great at what he's good at. He sang around 8 songs including some crowd favorites from American Idol. But I guess I'm not mistaken if I say that the song people enjoyed the most was his first single, Let's Just Fall In Love Again. I love how calm Jason's aura is, and it gets through when he performs. You can just feel the calmness and the sincerity.
Afterwards, they held the meet and greet (which was basically just a, Hi-*smile to the camera*-bye), and CD signing on stage. We didn't leave our spot and with our combined Team Awesome efforts, we were able to catch Jason's attention with our signages and constant calling out his name, which further lead to an amazing, fun and quirky "side" Question and Answer portion with Jason Castro, which he, without hesitations, replied to. Here's a video mash-up of what I'm talking about.
It was so funnn! And what was amazing was how Jason was so completely game with it. And when we asked if we could have a picture with him, he did ask Ayala's official photographer to take a picture of us with him (he came to our side). Jason just loved his fans so much :)
And we also got to meet and say hi to Mandy, Jason's wife. And to Rene, Jason's dad, who with think was bedazzled we recognized him cause he gave us this astonished looked when we were constantly calling his name. Hahaha.
The experience was just beyond great! It was awesomely awesome. Cause that's what Team Awesome is. We try our best to have a more personal encounter with these people. Cause it's just amazing to be able to witness where they are right now when we actually saw what their lives were before the whole American Idol thing started and how they tried to prove theirselves week by week and show improvement as an artist. To be able to see and be somehow part of it, is just plain amazeballs! And that's why we love these people so much.
GO TEAM CASTRO.
GO TEAM AWESOME.
CASTRO'S ARE AWESOME!
HELLO SWEET SUMMER
3:34 PM |
I've been completely forgetful about this blog since like, forever. It's not that it's something I did on volition. But things to do just keeps adding up every freaking time while I was still on school. Crazy crazy crazy times, it's even a blessing I finally made it out alive.
Summer's not the same for me anymore since my course has a required summer semester so summer for me is as short as three weeks, then back to school, then summer part 2 for three more weeks. Sucks. But hey, at least I still get the cash during those heat days.
Things have been happening. I never get the time to blog anymore. Or read, for leisure. There was just this one month that I've been feeling a slight insomnia so I do some nocturnal reading to stimulate my brain to go shut down. But, there have been some memorable things.. which yes, I am planning to blog.
So I am ending this blog so I can make a separate post on one freakishly awesome experience. 'Till next blog! :) I miss this.
And oohh, if anyone was wondering (which I highly doubt), I do have a tumblr. But it's never updated. I love tumblr and the tumblr people but I only use my account to comment and appreciate tumblr posts. I'm not into the tumblarity thing or whatnot cause I can barely keep this blog updated. But Yup, ok, let's move on.
