That, is true
Gleek dedication. It's not easy waiting for 2-5 hours, but after I watched the episodes, that feeling of hope and happiness I get after Glee is beyond worth it. :)
So.. I just finished watching Glee's finale after our internet got freaking crappy, it initially had a 0.4kB/sec speed so I had to wait for 4 hours to get the episode finish downloading. But it was worth every minute.
GLEE. ♥
I don't know, but I have become very attached to the show, it's hard for me to explain. I started crying on the first scene! And it went on and on and on. I don't care anymore how critics rate Glee's episode tonight (cause I'm usually keen on reading critic reviews of each episodes), all I know is that, Glee makes me very, very, very HAPPY. =)
There's just too much to say about the finale of Glee. Tina's speech about Facebook. Josh Groban (I have a hidden desire for this guy, LOL). Journey. Rachel and Finn. Faithfully (the EMOTION!). Don't Stop Believing♥. The rest of New Directions now having a part in DSB. Quinn's mom. Bohemian Rhapsody + Quinn. Puck's face during the delivery. Brittany in the waiting room (OMG, did anyone else see what she was doing?? HAHAHAHAHAH). Beth. Sue's vote. Emma's rage. New Direction's speeches. To Sir, With Love. Sue's heart. Somewhere over the rainbow. The friendships.. See you on September, again, Glee. :)
The thing about Glee, is that, although they are over-the-top dramatic (which I love, a breath of fresh air from the overly serious dramas on television nowadays), and everything, they still manage to produce quality story lines that hits you in the heart. Glee shows you what music can do, how music can go beyond and touch every soul. How music relates, that even if these characters are so different from each other, yet they all still have that common denominator,
music. And even if you know that it is all part in the script, music allows you to grasp and understand how the characters work and how they are feeling. That is Glee's advantage, the use of music to transcend boundaries and enable people to
feel. And above all, Glee has a heart. And humor (YES, BRITTANY).
And yes, maybe for someone who just watches Glee occasionally and just watches Glee for the performance numbers, the last episode may just be below expectations. But it was different for me. As a person who watched every single episode of Glee and took in every characters' story, the finale meant a lot for me. I watched it
by heart. During the entire 43 minutes and 16 seconds of it, there were flashbacks on the earlier days of Glee, when they were still a few of them, on how they all pretty much hated each other, on how Puck used to trap Artie in the comfort room and throw around Kurt in the dumpster. When Quinn was "the Queen" and Santana and Brit were her court. On how Rachel always wanted every single fucking solo and her mindset that she should be the only star. On how Finn hesitated to be vocal about his Glee club membership. On how Tina used to stutter. On how Kurt was just this weird gay kid who loves wearing expensive clothes and branded bags. On how Mercedes was just this fat black chic who thought she's in love with the weird gay kid. On how Artie felt like he was someone of no use and how he felt so misunderstood, that everyone thinks he was okay with their lack of consideration to his situation. On how Mike was just the "other Asian kid" who no one knew could dance so wickedly awesome. On how Sue was just this cold hearted bitch who didn't give a damn on anything other than her achievements. On how William was just this trophy husband who tried forgetting his dreams for the sake of his marriage. On how Emma was just a paranoid obsessive compulsive..
Get what I mean? For me, this episode showed their growth. How music enabled them to break free from status quo and express themselves. And how friendships that developed in the club allowed them to make themselves better. On how music showed these characters' other sides, the sides they try to hide. Look at them now, far more different from who they were, now powered by their dreams and aspirations.
And just think of it this way. On Glee's Pilot, Don't Stop Believing was just sang mainly by Rachel and Finn. Now, Don't Stop Believing was about everybody in New Directions and their stories, on how to keep believing despite everything else.
I just love Glee, I just love them, I just love their message of optimism. In this world of chaos and disasters right now, we do need this ray of sunshine in our lives.
Glee inspires.
I'm totally letting my grandchildren watch this whole damn thing.
Rachel: Break a leg.
Finn: I love you.
